Boys Need More Options for Careers.

In the last four decades the numbers of boys receiving a bachelor's degree has declined for all race classes.  THis article is awash in information about what is happening to our boys as they mature through school. 

1. Boys do not like school the way it is set up.
2. Boy's overall academic achievment lags teh female counterpart in high school.  57% of girls recieve A's verses 40% for boys
3. Since Title IV girls have been encouraged more than boys.
4. Observations in class show teacher bias toward male behavior.  Gender stereotypes are readily found within the teaching profession.
5. These differences are not related to birth.  These differences are related to the environment where we keep our children.

Boys need to be offered differing course loads and teaching styles than those of the girls.  This is difficult because we don't want to separate out our children, but we must differentiate and understand the needs and abilities of each of our students, even if we think boys are just going to be boys.
