Students are benefiting from their families inclusion in the education system in DC. By incorporating the family into the education system, and working toward family literacy, family members are able to pick up where teachers leave off.
The families in the program make up the bottom portion of the achievement gap. By including parents int eh educational process, it is hoped that this gap can be closed. Reading at home, singing, and working to better themselves, or be in school while their children are learning, may help to close that gap.
